The incidence of child trafficking in Assam has risen alarmingly. As many as 130 children of the State have been trafficked in 2016. It was 129 in 2015, Ministry of Women and Child Development released. Stringent measures needs to tackle this issue in the state.
The Supreme Court has already given directives to the Government like – mandatory registration of FIR in case of missing children, formation of special juvenile police unit in the State, etc. A “tract-child’ portal is operational at national level. States like Assam needs to make use of it urgently.
